Children’s Home Construction Nears Completion!
Construction of the Zion Children’s Home on Current Island began in the fall of 2010 because of the dream of two sisters who wanted to help many abused children. Thanks to generous support from faithful Bahamas Habitat donors and the local Bahamas church and government, the dream is becoming a reality. Volunteer pilots at the February Fly-In & Help Out Event will transport supplies and focus efforts on completing the first 2
buildings of the children’s home. It’s not too late to get involved. You can make a difference in the lives of the children who need YOU!
You can also make a contribution to Zion Children’s Home via the Bahamas Habitat website.
Thank you for visiting Bahamas Habitat where God’s Love Takes Flight.
We are a US-based Christian nonprofit organization supporting housing & disaster relief work in the Bahamas and most recently in Haiti. Our charter is to foster and develop Servant Leaders with a global perspective. Through our partner Bahamas Methodist Habitat (BMH), operating out of James Cistern Eleuthera, we are involved in hosting over 700 adults and youths each season for impactful week long and weekend Christian missions.
Bahamas Habitat is expanding and supporting the work of Bahamas Methodist Habitat through encouraging greater involvement of non-Bahamian volunteers in the extensive community development, housing renovation and construction work needed not only on the island of Eleuthera Island but throughout the Bahamas including the islands of Andros, Abaco, Grand Bahama, New Providence, Ragged and Cat.
The Bahamas is so easily accessible by private aircraft. Our organization maintains a special focus on partnering with supporters and sponsors that are involved in Aviation as pilots, aircraft owners and aviation industry participants. Our bi-annual Fly-In & Help Out Event introduces Pilots and Aircraft Owners to the joys of flying to the Bahamas while allowing them to directly support the vital mission of the Bahamas Habitat. Bahamas Habitat mobilized hundreds of pilot volunteers in response to the Haiti Earthquake in January 2010 and was one of the first mission flying organization to respond. Our volunteers flew over 400 missions and delivered hundreds of thousands of pounds of critical supplies to the outlying areas of Haiti where other forms of transportation could not serve. Our work in Haiti and the Bahamas in 2010 resulted in the special recognition of the National Aeronautic Association with the presentation of their Public Benefit Flying Awards. We see opportunity to make a unique and significant impact on the condition and hearts of Bahamians by combining the potential of
mission-minded aviation enthusiasts and strong Christian supporters with the needs of BMH throughout the Bahamas and beyond. Participants in our programs develop as servant leaders and come away with a stronger faith and a meaningful connection to a part of God’s work. You can be involved by helping to organize a summer youth group work team and introducing the opportunity to your faith communities and churches. You can volunteer to fly missions for us or join a Fly-In & Help Out event to make the trip and see for yourself the need and potential we are serving in this ministry. You can support us with your prayers, service and financial gifts. We encourage you to bookmark our News Blog, learn of our expanding efforts and participate in the upcoming Fly-In & Help Out Event or join in on a teleconference Board Meeting to learn more.
