The good and the bad

Monday, August 29th, 2011

As news from the south islands of Cat, Crooked and Acklin is coming in painting a pretty rough picture with some significant devastation, no power and much to clean up and repair, there is a very bright spot for all of us involved in Bahamas Habitat.

Zion Children’s Home project on Current Island escapes damage!

A big shout out to Gene and Susan Schmidt for sending this aerial photo of the Zion Home. What a great sight.

Great job to those preparing for the hurricane and to Osbourn Weech, the architects, builders, partners and of course the greatest glory to God for creating such a wonderfully well built structure.

Please continue your prayers and support for those in The Bahamas who have damaged and destroyed homes.

Bahamas Habitat is coordinating relief flights to deliver supplies to the areas hit the hardest. Pilots, supplies and donations are being sought to reach these outlying islands.

Donations for Hurricane Relief Needed

Saturday, August 27th, 2011

Our teams have begun the relief efforts to the Bahamas. Several things are now clear.

1. We are basing our response and supply depot out of Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE)

2. The Southern Bahamas have more damage which will dictate our flight logistics and we have fuel in several locations in the Northern islands to make the longer runs possible.

3. We are asking our volunteer pilots to obtain supplies locally for their first flight but will need donated funds to purchase additional supplies for the depot over the weekend to fill the returning aircraft. THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU THAT HAVE ALREADY GIVEN! Your support has provided confidence to our efforts.  Your online donations to Bahamas Habitat are fully Tax Deductible.

Please donate what you can now. Thank YOU!
